Sustainability Strategy for New Housing Development - 56 Houses Alfold

This former garden nursery at the edge of a Surrey village was identified as a sustainable location to help meet housing targets in the county. The development required a robust strategy to meet the local planning policy by reducing the overall energy demands using both a fabric first approach and low carbon and renewable technologies.

As an all electric site, Mesh identified Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) as the most appropriate renewable technology, which, married with a strong fabric first approach will lead to a 48 per cent total energy reduction over the baseline figure. As we move away from fossil fuels, ASHP will become an important technology for such schemes.

We have successfully completed:

  • High level feasibility study
  • Sustainability statement
